Tainted Mother’s Milk?!? Scary! by Wellness Coach Helen
Oliver Twist had the nerve to ask the orphanage director for more food. No PFC’s, no PFOA’s in that food even though it might have generally been known as watery ‘gruel’, it was most likely healthier than even mother’s milk these days. I know, very hard to believe. If babies only knew what was in their favorite nectar and the consequences, I doubt if they’d ask for more.
PFCs: perfluoronated compounds = perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), also known as C8. PFOA is used in nonstick coatings like Teflon, and PFOS is used in stain-resistant fabrics. (ref: wvgazette.com) Yes, it’s wonderful to nurse and feel you’re passing on all those healing, immune qualities to your infant, and you still are except that moms, it’s time for you to change your food quality and your lifestyle.
The University of Massachusetts at Amherst conducted a research study showing that 100% of the human breast milk tested was contaminated with toxic chemicals found in nonstick coatings and stain-resistant fabrics. 100%!!! Ladies, moms wake up! Dads you too. This is your baby also. Give your babies a fighting chance at good health with an uncomplicated, long life! And this goes even further back before prenatal, actually for years before your babies were even a thought.
BUT there is hope since the human body is the fabulous rejuvenating organism that it is, there’s no time like the present to start. This is not the first time we’ve heard about the toxic chemicals in both of those categories, but now there’s proof of your babies ingesting them from you! So start today. Like nesting. Be aware. Throw out all of your nonstick and coated cookware, plastic plates, plastic bottles, those cases of water and drinks in plastic bottles, plastic all…anything to do with food, even plastic cutting boards and invest in natural, organic and sustainable. And whatever happened to using glass? Yes, even replace all detergents. Everything that will be kind to you and your babies. And what about what you put onto your bodies…see my blog of 6/30/08, “Skin’s Organic Slippery Slope”. I can not emphasize this enough. Regardless of whether it goes into or onto your bodies, it’s food that’s digested and ingested and shared with your fetus and baby. Perfumes, room air deodorizers, atomizers, body cleansers, soaps, creams….., start using your intuitive, native good judgment and common sense. Put some effort into it. It’s well worth the reward. What did my grandmother used to say, “Use the common sense you were born with!” Reawaken it. Like any unused muscle, with a little exercise it gets stronger all the time until you go on automatic well grounded common sense requiring no further thought. Do the research and ask the questions. Stain resistant fabrics? Think about natural fibers again and wrinkles aren’t so terrible. So you iron a little. Get rid of those wrinkle free dryer pieces of chemical. Get your own spray bottles and fill them with your own all purpose surface cleanser like 50/50 regular peroxide and water. Works wonders as a disinfectant and neither you nor your baby are affected by lasting chemicals and aerosols.
Unfortunately, when you think about this horrendous finding, it’s not surprising given the poor quality of food and material things in our lives that we take for granted and buy without giving any thought to the contents of the simplest purchase. Coated cookware and utensils so we don’t have to use a Brillo pad, stain resistant fabrics so we don’t have to remove a stain. All to make our lives ‘easier’. The list goes on. You know there’s always a price. And this one could be a very expensive wake-up call for your baby’s health, now and as an adult.
I was a nursing mom and chose not to let all this drive me to the products of other udders. Instead I made a point of making my internal and external environment healthy for my baby. I figured that my milk still had more advantages over theirs’. Most important, they’re not human, and mine was made just for my baby. Without making that conscious choice, I wonder how narrow the margin really is when it comes to the chemical contents of other mammals’ milk.
This is critical. Nurture yourself and your infants with unpolluted breast milk and wholesome foods inside and out for their bodies, minds, and spirits so they become healthy, strong, unpolluted adults having the clarity of mind to make their own intuitive, well informed choices based on the good judgment that you give them now.
More to come on mother’s milk vs. manufactured baby’s formula.
I’ll be happy to show you and help you. Make an appointment in a return blog. Your family’s health is well worth it.
