Camp Bisco Rocks with The Disco Biscuits
July 29, 2009 by Ambassador of Green · Leave a Comment

Camp Bisco 2009, which took place at the India Lookout Country Club in upstate New York, featured some of the best electronic and rap bands known to date such as Flying Lotus, Nas and the Disco Biscuits. The Disco Biscuits, a trance fusion jam band from Philadelphia started Camp Bisco in 1999. Their music is a blend of Rock n Roll and Electronic. The band played all three nights of Bisco and there was a huge crowd every night.
This psychedelic weekend was such an experience that by the end many attendees needed a long time recovery period. People from all around the country in their pseudo hippie cars trekked miles to see some of their favorite bands. The fans camped out in the rain and sang songs of love which gave Bisco a Woodstock feeling. Even though the days of flower children are in the past, a new generation of “trance/jam children” have gathered here at Bisco and the same group of people travel around to many other music festivals all year long. “It’s like a family now”, a man from Long Island said, “after coming to Bisco all these years, you begin to see the same faces who share the same love for good music, and its nice to know that not all bands have sold their souls to huge record labels. This music festival is homegrown and relaxed”.
The security is not run by any state patrol or cops, but members of Hells Angels. The 3,600 member biker crew has chapters world wide, but they have gathered here at Bisco to make sure everyone has a safe time. The camp ground site was rugged to say the least; there were no toilets or showers, so by the end of the weekend, the camp ground had enough natural fertilizer to last the camp grounds at least a year. “The music is what makes the gross stench of sweat, mud and other substances worth putting up with”, said one girl who traveled with five other friends from Long Island, and ”even though I smell like dung for a week after Bisco, I still know that I will come back next year”.

JAY-Z
CONFIRMED AS FRIDAY NIGHT HEADLINER OF
ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
SHOW TO MARK HIP-HOP SUPERSTAR’S
U.S. FESTIVAL DEBUT
In a precedent-setting move for American music festivals, ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL organizers have just confirmed the U.S. festival debut of JAY-Z. The hip-hop superstar and pop culture icon will take over the headlining slot for the opening night (Friday, July 31) of the critically acclaimed annual event.
This show will mark the U.S. festival debut of Jay-Z, who last year performed at a variety of overseas festivals including the U.K.’s Glastonbury, Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Norway’s Hove Festival and the O2 Wireless Festival in London. In a review of a recent show, the LOS ANGELES TIMES’ Ann Powers said, “Jay-Z shows are fun because the rapper is so adept at spinning liquid gold; his mouth is one of the most nimble in the genre’s history, and he uses it to present thoughts that are sharp, funny and resonant” (July 4, 2009).
Grammy winner Jay-Z joins Tool (Saturday) and Coldplay (Sunday) as headliners of the three-day, multi-stage music and arts festival. ALL POINTS WEST will also feature performances from Echo & The Bunnymen, My Bloody Valentine, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, Gogol Bordello, The Black Keys, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arctic Monkeys and more than 65 artists appearing throughout the 80-acre historic location that has panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Manhattan skyline.
ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL organizers would also like to extend their best wishes to Beastie Boy Adam Yauch as he undergoes treatment for throat cancer. As previously reported, Beastie Boys were forced to cancel their headlining appearance at APW’s opening night (Friday, July 31)–as well as all other engagements–when Yauch was diagnosed as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. For those requesting refunds based on this news, ticket refunds are available at point of purchase for Friday single day tickets only.
ALL POINTS WEST is produced by Goldenvoice and Liberty Event in association with the HighLine Ballroom. For up-to-the-minute information on the ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL, visit www.apwfestival.com.
Solar Eclipse and The New Moon

Today’s Solar Eclipse and Tomorrow’s New Moon…
This is one of the most powerful eclipses of the century lasting over 6 1/2 minutes. Although it is only visible in India and eastward through China, the ripple effects will have a transformational impact. We happened to have some very enlightened and spiritual guests visiting and decided to use the energy of today’s eclipse to bring in the New Moon with a powerful meditation that I feel blessed to share with all of you. Simply go to The Juicy Naam Website under Sacred Music and you will find the accompanying mantra to this meditation:
www.thejuicynaam.us
1. Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo 3 times
2. Triple Mantra 3 minutes
3. Har Haray Haree 9 minutes in Sarab Shakti Mudra
(hands clasped and pointer(Jupiter) fingers pointing up.
4. RA Seed Sound 11 times with the hands over the heart
5. RA MA RA MA 11 minutes with the hands over the heart.
6. Softly chant IESCHOUA three times with hands towards the heavens.
The eclipse takes place on the edge of Cancer and Leo, signs of the Moon and the Sun. By chanting RA MA, we are able to merge the Moon and the Sun and in this space we are able to manifest anything we wish. Use the energy wisely and for the greater good.
Open your heart and let go of what is not serving you.
