Boston TeaParty - Tempest in a Teacup

April 15, 2009 by Ambassador of Green · 1 Comment

The Much Heralded ( liberal use of the words THOUSANDS and in the case of Lafeyette Park MILLIONS ) by FOX News et. al. has resulted in very little daytime turnout… we shall see if tonight is any different, but as it stands now, incompetent organizing and lame turnout in Boston is more indicative of limping out the backdoor than it is standing up loud strong and firm for your rights. Its kind of sad when someone throws a party, no big turnout, and everyone knows it.

The Original BOSTON TEA PARTY was not about tea bags but cases of Tea from several ships docked and moored in Boston harbor. To further confuse things, the majority of the rabble rousers dressed as American Indians while they carried out the task of tossing Crates into Boston Harbor. About all there is in common with that historal event now is TAXes and hence the April 15th Tax day event.

MSNBC did a rather lengthy pre-event OP-ED about this, all about FOX. Worth the watch. Read more

Earth Day Birthday Celebration Aims to Turn the Tide on Global Deforestation

April 14, 2009 by admin · 1 Comment

( Costa Rica ) - The Eco Preservation Society has launched its latest campaign to heal our planet: Replanting the Rainforests. Step one in this global plan begins this Earth Day with the Earth Day Birthday Celebration and fund raiser. The goal is to raise $1 million by April 25th, 2009 to begin the process of creating Sustainably Managed, Permanent Rainforest Habitats around the world and to prepare for the launch of the 2010 ten year goal program, “Turning The Tide.”

This celebration encourages eco-minded companies and individuals to “Give a Gift to Our Planet” to begin work on three critical reforestation efforts: Costa Rica’s Playa El Rey, Borneo, and Belize . Reforesting these areas will impact the both the plant and animal species while improving our global carbon crisis. Each area has been chosen in response to animal endangerment, and reforestation is a key component to saving these species.

Replanting the Rainforests is not another conservation program. With 80% of the planet’s native forests gone, conservation efforts are not enough. Micro and macro climate changes are occurring due to this deforestation, and scientists believe that replanting can reverse this if action is taken now.

Replanting the Rainforests is a radically new tree-planting program because it is able to sustainably manage permanent rainforest habitats. Previous tree planting programs left out a key step in creating long lasting change: community education. Replanting the Rainforests seeks to educate communities on Read more

Going Green From The Whitehouse to Your House

April 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Now is SRI’s time to shine. This may seem a simple answer to complex challenges, but since first writing about the Green economy back in 1991 we have believed in Socially Responsible Investing’s ability to influence the global economy in a positive and balanced way through disclosure, transparency and accountability. In the midst of financial meltdown, the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits is where we begin anew, from Main Street and from Wall Street. Welcome to a new era of economic reform and responsible regulation along with ethical business practices and environmental restoration.

Of course financial recovery based on the Green economy is essential. The Green economy will need on-going innovation and capital, both of which will help provide green jobs and energy independence while meeting the long-term needs of the planet and its creatures. There could be millions of jobs in recycling, solar, wind, water, and biofuels, as well as in energy conservation (homes and buildings) and greener transportation. Look, too, for safe, local organic food production as yet another answer to global health and quality of life challenges. We believe that sustainable business means long-term profits, and that renewable energy will power the future.
