Zac Posen Creates Perfection in Motion
September 14, 2008 by editor
The September 12, 2008 exclusive Zac Posen runway show for American Express members, punctuating Fashion Week, was, in a word, perfection.
Members were treated to more than a glimpse of this fashion virtuoso’s spring and summer 2009 lines. They were treated to a transformative experience. The garments, creating a flowing, expressive panoply of marriages between function and fantasy sailing on graceful vessels, were art in motion.
Exquisite face, form and shape enhanced by celestial lighting and mesmerizing music transported the audience to a place of beauty and infinite possibilities, out of time, out of the ordinary.
Each creation was an inspirational awakening, a window into the dominion of clothes. A rare post-show Q and A with the brilliant designer revealed that such alchemy was indeed his intention. “Giving the opportunity to have one’s fantasies come alive is important to me,” he said, clarifying that “in the end, it’s the customer’s fantasy that you take into account,” when constructing a garment. He talked of the empowerment of clothing, being mindful of the way clothing can make one feel and move, of its ability to convey an attitude. Clearly, then, this is a genius with a purpose, one that resonates with people the world over and that vitalized his audience on an extraordinary NYC night.
